Comfortable win away leaves the Development side 1 point away from league title.

The Senior Development travelled to Sutton Bonnington without top scorer Josh King however they welcomed back Harry Smith from the first team, Isiah Dugba, Harvey Heggs and Archie Allen in a strong looking squad. Hall made 4 changes from the previous week, in came Turner, Smith, Boyce & Sands for Geary, Minihane, King & Nasciemento.

Hinckley started the game on the front foot and should have gone ahead after just 90 seconds, Greenwood was put through on goal, but the keeper saved well with his feet. Moments later, another big chance went begging – an excellent cross from Boyce was met by Greenwood however he headed wide from just 6 yards out.

On 6 minutes it was Boyce’s turn to be put through on goal, but he blazed over. Hinckley continued to force the issue and on 12 minutes, Smith headed over the bar at the far post on the stretch despite Carroll appearing to be better placed for a tap in.

After the whirlwind start, Sutton began to eventually settle, and Jeffrey had to be alert to a couple of low dangerous crosses. On 20 minutes Hinckley deservedly did take the lead, a deep Sam Carroll appeared to be diverted into the net by a Sutton defender with Greenwood ready to pounce.

The game started to become scrappy as Sutton worked hard to find a foot hold in the game. Hinckley were guilty of not retaining possession and naturally the chances which were created at the start of the game were now not being created however Hinckley finished the half untroubled.

Hinckley were forced into a change at half time as Geary came on for Smith who had took a knock shortly before half time. The second half started how the first half finished as Hinckley struggled to get going.

Hall & Hardy were quick to made changes and on came Franks from Humphrys and Allen for Carroll. The changes immediately gave Hinckley fresh impetus and on 63 minutes thy extended their lead. A deep Allen corner from the right hand side was met by Boyce who headed home from 6 yards out.

Hinckley were looking far more comfortable with Allen causing issues down the Sutton right hand side. Dugba & Nasciemento were introduced for scorer Boyce & Turner as Hinckley continued to press forward with Sutton appearing to tire.

On 77 minutes, Hinckley made it 3. The lively Dugba beat his man down the right-hand side before standing up a cross to the far post which was met by Allen. Hinckley continued to press forward in the final 10 minutes looking to add to their tally however the Sutton keeper saved well on a couple of occasions before the final whistle went.

Hinckley un-beknown to them had sealed promotion after Leicester Athletico failed to beat Loughborough FC. However, they now have their sights set on the league title where they require 1 point from the final 6 games.
