Bedworth United vs Hinckley LRFC

Website Admin4 Feb - 14:25

Hinckley LRFC pick up a point on the road

In a game largely dominated by Hinckley with chances for both teams, Hinckley were unable to convert their chances in a no-score draw that means both teams walk away with a well-earned point.

Bedworth made a promising start as Murphy shot from a narrow angle but Laban made an important save to stop Bedworth taking an early lead.

As the game progressed, Hinckley began to take control of the game. Hinckley’s Brennan pounced upon a loose ball only to have his shot well-dealt with by Bedworth keeper O’Brien.

Nuttall demonstrated his threat to Bedworth with a dangerous move on the left of the box. However, good defensive pressure from Bedworth defender Moore ensured Nuttall was unable to get his shot away.

Hinckley had another great scoring opportunity when Read guided the ball through to Nuttall on 12 mins. With only the keeper to beat, Nuttall was unable to finish.

Despite Hinckley’s impressive performance, Bedworth very nearly caught Hinckley out on 42 mins. Bedworth’s Rowe struck a curling free-kick only to hit the bar although Laban undoubtedly had it covered. With Laban grounded, the ball rebounded to Magunda whose header hit the bar and sailed over an open goal.

Bedworth started the second half with a couple of chances. Murphy’s header from Stone’s cross went astray and then Grocott hit the side netting.

Hinckley had a number of chances but were unable to convert. Read looked clear on goal for Hinckley, only to be denied by great defensive work from Parrott. Hinckley sub Jones beat Moore to force a save from keeper O’Brien. Humphries beat everyone to the ball for a fantastic goal-bound header, only to see it saved by a back-pedalling O’Brien.

A hard-fought game that could easily have had a handful of goals if either side had managed to convert their chances.

The result leaves Hinckley in 16th position in the league, 3 places and 10 points above the relegation zone.

The next game is against Anstey Nomads at 7:45pm on Tuesday 4th February 2025 at the Hinckley Leicester Road FC stadium.
