Hinckley Leicester Road faced off against a playoff chasing side for the 4th time in succession looking to add to their already acquired 4 points as they hosted Sporting Khalsa at Leicester Road on Tuesday evening.
On a cold night in LE10, Hinckley had the better of the first half with Michael Armstrong forcing the first save of the game. Good play down the right set Kear free, his cross was headed away, only as far as Armstrong who's first time shot was strongly palmed over by Brandon Ganley.
On 16, good play between Read and Nuttall set up Brennan on the left hand side, Brennan cut inside but couldn't keep his effort down.
10 minutes before the break a moment of controversy nearly saw Hinckley take the lead. Andre Landell had a shot from over 25 yards. The assistant flagged and appeared to indicate a pull of the shirt by Humphreys. The referee ignored the flag and from the goal kick Hinckley broke forward. Brennan set Nuttall free down the right hand side, he squared to Read with his back to goal. He laid the ball into the path of Armstrong who forced another strong save out of Ganley. The incident saw a furious Khalsa manager booked for his protests.
The half time whistle saw the two sides go in goalless but Hinckley looking the stronger of the two sides.
The second half saw Hinckley get their deserved goal when Michael Armstrong opened the scoring 8 minutes into the second half. Liam Read did excellently holding the ball up, he found Brennan who fired a pass into the unmarked Nuttall 18 yards out. He turned and unselfishly laid the ball into the onrushing Armstrong who calmly side footed past the goalkeeper.
Midway through the second half Lyne's ball into the channel saw Read break the offside trap. He broke into the box but saw his effort parried away by Ganley.
In the 76th minute Hinckley had a glorious chance to seal game. Humphreys long ball into Nuttall was flicked into path of Read who found space but saw his effort saved by the legs of the goalkeeper.
8 minutes from time Khalsa were level. An incisive pass from substitute Tilt saw Andre Landell free in the box. He brought the ball onto his right foot and slid the ball past Laban from a tight angle to make it 1-1
Neither side came close to a winner after that, the final whistle ensuring both sides left with a point but Hinckley will be disappointed they didn't come away with more after working the Khalsa goalkeeper multiple times throughout the match.
