Hinckley LRFC were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Sporting Khalsa on Saturday as they continue their push for the play offs.

In the first game of their Bank Holiday double header, Hinckley rescued a point thanks to a stoppage time Dom Brennan free kick.

Hinckley took the lead after 15 minutes, when Michael Armstrong received the ball on the penalty spot from Joe Lyne, his shot struck the inside of the post before crossing over the Lyne.

Sporting Khalsa then equalised after 40 minutes when a miss clearance from Jordan Burrows, allowed James McGready to run through on goal, slotting past Will Highland.

In the second half, the hosts turned things around when in the 51st minute, Dylan Read, beat Louie Gill to the ball, cutting inside onto his left foot, curling in a beautiful goal into the top corner from range.

The game then turned scrappy with Hinckley pushing for an equaliser and Khalsa trying their best to hold onto their narrow lead.

But it was Hinckley who got the deciding factor in the game, when in stoppage time, Dom Brennan fired a wonderful free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner with the Khalsa keeper having no chance of saving it.

With the game looking like it was over, their was one final moment of controversy when moments later, Aaron Nuttall broke through one on one, as he drove into the box the recovering defender, left an outstretched leg out clumsily bring Nuttall to the ground. Despite the appeals from the crowd and the players, the referee instantly waved away the appeals and shortly after blew his whistle for full time.

With the play off's still in Hinckley's hands, they now face a quick turnaround as in two days time, they travel to second placed Spalding United on Easter Monday.
