Leicester Road ventured into Northampton last night to take on Bugbrooke St Michaels for the first time in our short history. Bugbrooke were promoted from UCL Division 1 last season so again another unknown team that needed to be treated with respect.

Leicester Road quickly settled into their game and forced the play on Bugbrooke with lots of possession. Matty Langham created our first chance when his shot was blocked by their keeper but Tom Smith who reacted first to the rebound chipped his shot over.

The deadlock was broken on 19 mins when Matty Langham found himself beyond the Bugbrooke defence and crossed for Dom Brennan to score from inside the 6 yard box to put Leicester Road 0-1 up.

Leicester Road continued to dominate the action with chances falling to Simon Alcott, Jarred Acton, Tom Smith and Matty Langham with Bugbrooke creating their only clear cut change on 37 mins as the game drifted into half time.

Leicester Road upped the intensity in the second half and continued to dominate an otherwise stop-start game. The dominance paid off with goals from Dom Brennan on 66 mins, Simon Alcott on 72 mins and Matty Langham on 74 mins to round off the night.
