The first half saw HLRFC dominate possession with the hosts only managing occasional excursions out of their half of the pitch. Possession soon transferred into chances with one eventually being converted. The score at half time showing HLRFC one goal to the good.

A high intensity performance in the first half was followed by similar in a second half which saw the hosts try and salvage something from the game. Rushall scored to even the tie soon after half time.

The equalizer altered the tie, but despite tiring legs, the second half efforts of the hosts could not prevent HLRFC progressing to the second round and a date with Carl Baker Football Academy at the Leicester Road Stadium on the 5th February.
