Development side open up their league campaign with a narrow loss..

The Senior Development started life in the Everards Brewery Division 1 with a defeat on a blustery day at Beaumont Park. Hinckley were without 5 players for their opening day game - goalkeeper Luke Jeffrey, Harry Smith, Ben Martin, David Mensu-Bonsa & Micha Rowe.

Hall & Hardy welcomed new signings Stanley Rossell, Chris Jones, Jude Kutshienza, Elliot Lawson and Sam Young into the starting line-up. Hinckley appeared to settle the better in the opening exchanges with their final ball letting them down.

However, it wasn’t long before Leicester Athletico started to come into the game with Hinckley struggling to play out against the wind. Lawson holding a shot from 20 yards before Leicester Athletico’s midfielder should have done better from 12 yards out.

On 35 minutes Hinckley almost went ahead when Hinckley they won the ball high up in the Leicester Athletico half however Greenwood shot wide across the keeper.

Just as Hinckley were starting to apply some pressure, Leicester Athletico went ahead and it was all Hinckley's own doing. From a Hinckley corner, Leicester Athletico broke the full length of the pitch in numbers before firing low into the bottom corner. The remainder of the half fizzled out with Hinckley struggling to get any foothold in the game.

Hinckley started the second half well and almost equalised. Good work down the right-hand side was met by Rossell but his snapshot was well saved by the keeper.

Leicester Athletico were starting to tire as Hinckley continued to apply pressure. In the space of 5 minutes Hinckley had a shot cleared off the line before Sam Young hit the bar with a free kick – The rebound fell to Warner but he could only direct his header over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

Hall & Hardy brought on fresh legs in new signings Harvey Mason and Josh Rudkin. Hinckley were getting into good areas in the final third but were guilty of poor decision making which let them down time and time again. Benji Read & Malik Boyce were introduced with 20 minutes to go, and Boyce struck the side netting moments after coming on.

Leicester Athletico were starting to get a foot hold back in the game as they started to run down the clock. As the game became stretched, Jack Warner's last ditch tackle prevented the Leicester Athletico forward going through on goal.

In Injury time, Hinckley thought they had their equaliser. A cross was turned towards goal however the Leicester Athletico centre half was on hand to head it over the bar. From the resulting corner, another shot was cleared off the line from Chris Jones before the referee signalled full time.
