Senior Development vs St Patricks - Match Report

Daniel Darby28 Nov - 21:56

Match report from last Saturdays Senior Development game against St. Patricks by George Foot

Hinckley Leicester Road FC Development hosted St Patricks in wet and windy conditions thanks to Storm Bert.

The first half was a scrappy affair, with very few chances at either end. The first chance of note came after half an hour when St Patricks played down the wide right, Jack Hickey got to the by line and crossed right footed across the face of goal, but nobody was there to tap in and the ball went out for a throw in.

On the stroke of half time, St Patricks get on the end of a long ball and get a shot off, but it just grazes the top of the crossbar and goes over.

Early in the 2nd half, Callum Sumner picked the ball up on the right corner of the 18 yard box, dinked a cross to Jordan Small whose header went on to Casmir Umeh at the back post, but the keeper gets across to save at point blank range and keep it at 0-0.

On the hour mark, St Patricks broke down the wide right again, Jack Hickey beat Jack Whitehouse and entered the 18 yard box, but he couldn’t decide quick enough so he only hit a half-shot half-cross which went out for a goal kick.

With 10 minutes left, Casmir Umeh hit a shot from 20 yards out, but it took a deflection off the defender which took it away from the keeper, but he managed to get across to tip it round the post for a corner.

Just a minute later, Ruari O’Boyle sent a free kick in from the ride right to the back post, but nobody could connect with it and it went behind for a goal kick.

It stayed 0-0 for the rest of the game, which moved Leicester Road into 2nd, 5 points behind Lutterworth Athletic Reserves, and 1 point behind Loughborough Students Development, who have 2 games in hand.

Next, we travel to Stoneygate FC on Saturday 30th November in the 3rd round of the County Cup, with a 2:00pm kickoff.
