A rare achievement acknowledged in the modern day game

Hinckley Leicester Road find themselves having the rare distinction of being able to award Testimonials to 3 club stalwarts.

For those unaware, a testimonial is awarded to someone for services to the club and during that year a number of special events are put on to recognise and reflect on that persons service to the club.

Testimonials were a common achievement prior to the introduction of the Bosman Rule and the premier league but Hinckley Leicester Road are privileged to have 3 clubman worthy of this accolade.

Neil Lyne
Neil chose to continue the progress of the successful treble winning Hinckley United youth team after the players were left without a club rather than step back into the pro academy scene and kept the group together to form the basis of the Leicester Road squad for our maiden season in senior football in 2014.

During those ten seasons Neil has guided the club from Step 7 to Step 6 then through COVID to Step 5 and then Step 4 culminating this season finishing fourth in the league before cruelly being eliminated in the Step 3 Playoff's on penalties after out playing Harborough Town over 120 minutes.

Will Highland
Will has been a permanent figure at Leicester Road featuring in our inaugural match which we drew 1-1 against Hampton on 23rd August 2014.

Under the guidance of Ken Hughes, Will has continued to development and each season has aways be one of the best keepers in whichever league we have played in.

Despite many offers, Will has always resisted the temptation to try pastures new and much of that has been down to the influence Ken Hughes has played in his ongoing development over his 380 games for the club.

Joseph Lyne
Jo is another player who featured in our inaugural 1-1 draw against Hampton and continues to go from strength to strength as a well respected player and clubman.

Jo was lured away for a few weeks and sampled National League North experience at Nuneaton Borough but soon returned to Leicester Road to finish off the season.

The combative and commanding style of play which is Jo through and through has seen him dominate the middle of the park at every level as we have progressed up the pyramid, so it is no co-incidence that Jo has picked up his fourth Players Player of the Season award for this season.

Jarrad Acton
Although not quite a member of the 10 year club, Jarrad was another player to feature in the inaugural match against Hampton but departed the following season to focus on his studies at Hallam University.

However, Jarred couldn't stay away and returned after a 2 season absence to resume his association with the club where he has remained ever since.

Jarrad also holds the distinction of being the clubs first doctorate after completing a PhD in Sports Science at Loughborough University.

Hinckley Leicester Road hope to be able to continue this tradition for many years to come with a number of players and staff that have all stayed loyal to the club who all have dedicated 9, 8, 7 and 6 years service at the club respectively.
