Leicester Road FC v Heath Hayes FC -Saturday 12th November 2016 – (AWAY)

After nine matches unbeaten that had seen them rise to second in the Midland Football League Division One, Leicester Road travelled for a tough looking game at Heath Hayes knowing that three points would see them top the table for the first time.

The Leicester Road starting line-up was unchanged from last week and on the bench Matthew Stenson and Sam Munton were returning after injury.
A minutes silence preceded the match in memory of those lost in conflict. Both teams started brightly and with chances being made at both ends, it made for an entertaining games for the spectators. After 20 minutes the referee produced his yellow card for what would not be the only occasion of the afternoon and booked one of the the home team's players. The game continued at a lively pace and after 31 minutes Joseph Lyne produced a bit of magic to allow Jake Holt to fire home his cut-back to give Leicester Road the lead. As half time approached an incident led to a second yellow for the same player for Heath Hayes which saw the hosts reduced to ten men as the two teams went off for half-time.
